Alfred Ababio Kumi, known as Adenta Kumi, publicly accepted his defeat in the New Patriotic Party’s election for National Youth Organiser. The former campaigner said he would use the setback as a learning opportunity rather than withdraw from party activities.

In a statement issued after the vote, Kumi said, “I failed. The party has spoken, and I accept the verdict.” He congratulated the winner, Abanga Fuseini Yakubu, and wished the other successful aspirants well in serving the party.

Kumi pointed to weaknesses in his campaign strategy, noting that popularity, sacrifice and hard work alone were insufficient. “This election has taught me a painful lesson: being popular is not enough. Sacrifice is not enough. Hard work is not enough. Resources, organisation, strategy and preparation matter,” he said. He added that he had underestimated the importance of these factors and would own the mistake.

He thanked supporters, family and God for their backing, and acknowledged critics whose discouragement helped shape his lessons. Kumi vowed, “I lost an election. I will not lose the lesson. I accept my failure. I will study it, learn from it, rebuild and come back wiser.”

The NPP’s internal election highlighted the party’s focus on structured campaigning and resource allocation. Kumi’s statement signals his intention to remain active within the party while refining his approach for future contests.
