A fire broke out in the early hours of Thursday, October 1, 2026, in Accra’s North Industrial Area, with smoke and flames quickly spreading across the industrial enclave.

Details about the cause, extent of damage and any casualties remain unconfirmed. An eyewitness noted that the fire appeared to have intensified because of a lack of immediate assistance.

“We do not know what really caused the fire. All we realised is that the fire is burning from up there. We do not have anyone to help, so the fire has escalated,” the witness said.

Two fire tenders arrived at the scene, yet the blaze remained intense. Another eyewitness reported that Ghana National Fire Service personnel were struggling to reach the area because some residents were allegedly obstructing their movement.

“Fire Service came to help, yet the residents want to fight them. They should just pave the way for them to pass through, but they are refusing. That is what will happen,” the eyewitness added.

Authorities are awaiting further updates on the incident’s cause and the extent of damage, while residents are urged to clear a path for emergency responders to contain the fire.
