YEA Unveils Four New Youth Employment Programmes for 2027

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has outlined four new employment programmes slated for launch in 2027, aiming to widen job opportunities for Ghana’s youth across domestic services, delivery, corporate services and agriculture. Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale presented the plans during the Government Accountability Series at Jubilee House on Wednesday, October 21.

The Domestic Services Employment Programme will recruit and train young people in housekeeping, home management, caregiving and other household support roles, with an emphasis on professionalising the sector and ensuring compliance with labour regulations. The Youth in Delivery Services Programme seeks to create logistics and distribution jobs, particularly in the 10 of Ghana’s 16 regions that currently lack organised delivery services.

The Youth in Corporate Services Programme is designed for both graduates and non‑graduates, offering workplace experience and opportunities in professional and support‑service roles. Meanwhile, the Youth in Agriculture and Farming Support Services Programme will focus on commercial crop production, farm operations, mechanisation, irrigation support and post‑harvest handling.

“Our vision is to build a more responsive, inclusive and results‑oriented Agency that does not merely respond to unemployment but anticipates emerging employment opportunities and deliberately positions Ghanaian youth to take advantage of them,” Mr Basintale said. He added that the interventions aim to broaden employment pathways, help young people develop practical skills, participate in enterprises and access income‑generating opportunities.

YEA’s initiatives are expected to broaden employment pathways and support young people to develop practical skills, participate in enterprises and access income‑generating opportunities.
