On October 7, the 2026 Stanford University‑Elsevier ranking released that four scholars from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) are now among the world’s top 2% of scientists. The list, based on Scopus data through the 2025 citation year, evaluates 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields using a composite citation score that blends citations, h‑index, co‑authorship and authorship position.
Professor Joshua Yindenaba Abor leads the group, ranking 24,350th globally and 119th in his subfield of Economics and Business, with a composite score of 3.19 from 216 documents and 714 citations. Dr Emmanuel Joel Aikins Abakah is 65,025th worldwide, 266th in his subfield, citing 1,259 times across 101 papers. Professor Godfred Alufar Bokpin sits at 74,673rd globally, with 359 citations from 68 publications. Professor Robert Ebo Hinson is 485th in his subfield out of 15,920 researchers.
The ranking distinguishes career‑long impact from single‑year impact, the latter measuring citation influence during the most recent assessment year. UGBS’s inclusion of four faculty members signals the international visibility of research emerging from Ghana in economics, finance and business disciplines.
Universities increasingly rely on citation‑based rankings to gauge and promote research influence. UGBS’s achievement places it among the few Ghanaian institutions to break into the global top tier of scientific impact.
