Media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has urged the public to show compassion and support to WASSCE candidates who may not have achieved the results they expected.
She stressed that disappointing exam results should not be treated as the end of a candidate’s journey, noting that there are several opportunities available to those who may not have performed well.
She also cautioned parents, friends and the general public against shaming, insulting or comparing candidates based on their results.
In a post on X, she said the disappointment that comes with poor results is already difficult enough and should not be worsened by negative comments.
“Take it easy on any WASSCE candidate who didn't get the results you expected. There's no need to kick someone when they're already down. It’s not the end of the world. Exams can be rewritten. There are always other routes forward. The disappointment is already heavy enough. Don’t add shame, insults and unnecessary comparisons to it,” she said.
She encouraged people to focus on reassuring and supporting candidates as they come to terms with their results.
“Be supportive. They need it now more than ever,” she added.
The call comes as the WASSCE exam draws scrutiny over its impact on students’ futures. Anamoah’s message is a reminder that education is a journey, not a single test.
