Adenta Circuit Court in Accra has granted bail to 23‑year‑old Ohemaa Serwaa Abigail Owusu Ansah, who faces charges of conspiracy to commit theft involving GH¢1.5 million belonging to Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder of the International Godsway Church.

Ansah has not yet entered a plea. The court ordered her release with two sureties, one of whom must be backed by landed property. She is expected to reappear on October 29, 2026.

Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, the prosecutor, noted that Bishop Obinim and the accused are friends. According to the prosecution, Ansah visited Obinim’s Lakeside residence on October 13, 2026, where the bishop left for church, leaving her alone in the house.

At about 0700 hours the next morning, Obinim discovered his safe had been broken into and the GH¢1.5 million missing. When confronted, Ansah allegedly claimed she had enlisted her father’s worker, Owusu, to send two young men to the house.

The prosecution said Ansah led the men into the room, showed them the safe, and they allegedly broke it open, stole the money and left. Ansah was arrested on October 16 at about 1400 hours and taken to the Criminal Investigations Department headquarters.

In her caution statement, Ansah allegedly admitted inviting the two men to break into the safe and steal the money. Investigations are ongoing.

Ansah’s bail conditions will be monitored closely, and she must appear in court on the scheduled date to answer the charges.
