STC Seeks Private Investors to Expand Bus Fleet

The State Transport Company (STC) has announced a new partnership model inviting private investors to purchase new buses for inclusion in its fleet. The move aims to meet rising passenger demand without relying solely on internal funding for vehicle acquisitions.

Alhaji Nuru Hamidan, Deputy Managing Director for Finance and Administration at STC, said the initiative gives private sector players a chance to invest in Ghana’s transport industry while supporting the company’s operations. Under the arrangement, investors retain ownership of the buses, which STC then brands and deploys to serve passengers under a contractual agreement.

"The alliance is not limited to individuals. We have corporate institutions, some banks and individuals participating. The most important thing is that you own the vehicle. The vehicles are brand new, and we enter into an agreement with you before taking the vehicle, branding it and adding it to our fleet to serve our customers," Mr Hamidan explained.

The company encouraged interested parties to explore the partnership, noting it would strengthen STC’s capacity to meet passenger demand and improve service delivery.
