St Luke Anglican Church Donates Food and Toiletries to Nsawam Prison Inmates

On Saturday, October 3, the St Luke Anglican Church at Kwashieman in Accra delivered a basket of food items and toiletries to inmates at Nsawam Prison as part of its centenary celebrations. Rev. Father Samuel Aboh Commey led the donation exercise, while Rev. Fr. Nartey spoke to the prisoners, encouraging them to maintain hope and view their incarceration as an opportunity to reflect and prepare for life after release.

Chief Superintendent of Prisons Rejoice Adzakpa welcomed the donation, noting that the Ghana Prisons Service’s mandate extends beyond custody to include programmes that improve conditions and equip inmates with skills for reintegration. She added that sustained support from churches and charitable organisations can complement the Service’s rehabilitation initiatives.

Mrs Adzakpa expressed gratitude to the church, saying, “It is not everybody who puts aside their other pressing issues to come and visit us. We are very grateful for the support and the love you have shown us.” The donation underscores St Luke Anglican Church’s commitment to compassion for those in vulnerable circumstances.
