Slim Buster Talks Old‑School Legwork, Challenges Dancegod Lloyd

Slim Buster, a veteran Ghanaian musician and dancer, recently opened up about the difficulty of mastering old‑school dance styles compared to modern moves. In an interview, he noted that while contemporary dancer Dancegod Lloyd can emulate many of his moves, the reverse may not hold true.

“You see, Dancegod can actually do your moves, but you can’t do his moves,” the interviewer remarked, prompting Slim Buster to explain the distinction.

He described two main approaches: lyrical dance and dancing to the beat. He then recalled a particular style that was notoriously hard because of its leg movements. “Back in the days, yeah, it was the hardest one because of the leg movement,” he said, before demonstrating how the movement was performed in the past.

During the demonstration, he contrasted the old technique with what dancers now call “legwork.” “Now, because they couldn’t do this, they are doing it like this,” he explained, showing the difference in execution.

When asked about the movement now, Slim Buster confirmed, “The legwork now.”

The veteran’s comments highlight the evolving nature of dance in Ghana, where newer styles emphasize speed and energy, while older forms require precise, disciplined legwork. Fans and dancers alike are taking note of the challenge posed by these classic moves.

As the dance community digests Slim Buster’s insights, the conversation around preserving traditional techniques while embracing contemporary flair is set to continue. Stay tuned for more updates on Ghana’s dynamic dance scene.
