Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Selassie Ibrahim is grieving the loss of her husband, former Food and Agriculture Minister Ibrahim Adam, who died at the University of Ghana Medical Centre on 30 August 2026 at the age of 75.
Three days after his death, on Tuesday 1 September, Ibrahim Ibrahim shared a series of photographs of moments they had shared, accompanied by an emotional message: “Rest well. Our hearts are broken beyond words. Your legacy lives on.”
Ibrahim Adam, an animal scientist by training, held a B.Sc. (Honours) in Agriculture before moving into politics. He served as Agriculture Secretary under former President Jerry John Rawlings and then as Minister for Food and Agriculture from 1993 to 1996. He later won the Choggu/Tishigu seat on the National Democratic Congress ticket, serving as MP from 1997 to 2001 and as part of the majority in the Second Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
Beyond politics, he chaired the board of the Agricultural Development Bank, contributing to its governance. The couple had two children, a son and a daughter.
Following his death, his body was transported from Accra to Tamale, where he was buried in accordance with Islamic traditions.
