During a week‑long health screening organised by Sekyere Community Bank PLC in partnership with Peace Specialty Hospital, Mamponteng, more than 500 cases of hypertension and over 400 instances of impacted earwax were documented across five bank branches in the Ashanti Region.
The outreach, held at Mamponteng, Kenyasi, Kronom and Jamasi, was part of the bank’s activities marking International Customer Service Week and drew 875 customers, staff and community members from Kwabre East Municipality, Suame Municipality and Sekyere South District.

Participants received blood sugar tests, ENT examinations, general health assessments, free medical consultations and health education. Those needing medication were given free drugs, while 500 affected individuals were offered professional medical counselling and others referred to the hospital for further evaluation.
Abraham Adu Sarfo, Records Officer at Peace Specialty Hospital, highlighted hypertension as the most prevalent condition detected. He also noted that the ENT unit identified over 400 cases of impacted earwax, a buildup that can cause hearing loss, leading to referrals for ear washing and follow‑up appointments.

Michael Aidoo, CEO of Sekyere Community Bank, said the initiative is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility to improve customer well‑being, believing healthy customers are more productive and better positioned to contribute to families, businesses and communities.
Beneficiaries praised the timely intervention and urged the bank to make the exercise a regular feature, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to community development and national progress through impactful social interventions.
