Samuel Victor Addo was called to the Ghana Bar on 22 October after a distinguished career in corporate America. He has announced that he will practice law actively, focusing on helping the disadvantaged and underserved.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Personality Profile with Lexis Bill, Addo said his late‑career shift was driven by a desire to use his knowledge to support people who might otherwise struggle to obtain legal advice. He plans to start with general practice while determining where he can make the greatest impact.

“I plan to actively practise law, and I think it will be general practice because specialisation may take a while for you to figure out how to specialise and what if the area of your interest and specialisation is not really fulfilling or lucrative,” Addo explained.

He added that he intends to remain active as long as his health allows, using his skills to help the indigent and the underserved. He also hopes to assist family, friends and his social circle, noting that having a lawyer in the family can be pivotal when important decisions have legal implications.

Returning to Ghana after years in the United States, Addo completed his legal studies alongside younger classmates, describing the programme as demanding but rewarding. His next challenge will be translating his qualification into practical service for those who need legal assistance but have limited means.

He said he expects to stay active in legal practice for as long as he is physically able, aiming to make legal support accessible through representation and informed advice.
