On Tuesday, September 29, Minister for Roads and Highways Kwame Agbodza toured the Kumasi Outer Ring Road and instructed Arab Contractors Ghana Limited to hasten construction so the project finishes within the planned timeline.
Agbodza voiced concerns that the contractor’s activities had largely been limited to earthworks, urging a shift to concrete work in areas where access is available.
He explained that the scale and complexity of the ring road mean work should not follow a linear path; instead, the contractor should work simultaneously in multiple zones, returning to restricted sections once they become accessible.
According to Agbodza, this strategy would maximise available working time and help close the current schedule gap.
The minister noted the project’s magnitude presents learning opportunities for all stakeholders, but warned against unnecessary delays, stating the government would not grant an extension unless properly justified.
He urged the contractor to utilise every available working day to accelerate progress and bring the project back on track.
