During a working visit to the Northern Region on Saturday, September 5, Minister for Roads and Highways Governs Kwame Agbodza clarified that the government’s nationwide road inspection exercise is not a punitive measure against contractors. He said the inspections are focused on assessing progress, identifying challenges and encouraging contractors to accelerate work to ensure projects are delivered within the agreed timelines.
Agbodza explained that the government’s commitment to completing ongoing road projects makes regular monitoring of construction sites necessary, particularly to ensure that contractors remain on schedule. He added that the exercise has already helped to encourage contractors to increase the pace of work.
“We don’t go around just trying to look for trouble for contractors, but indeed, many of the Big Push contractors and other contractors are doing very well,” Agbodza said. He also assured contractors who may be falling short of their own expected standards that the government would provide the necessary support to help them complete their projects on time. “Don’t worry, with our support, you can also complete your work on schedule,” he added.
The ministry plans to continue the inspection tour across the country, with the aim of ensuring that road projects meet their delivery milestones and that any issues are addressed promptly.
