Ghana’s producer price inflation registered a 4.8% rise in September 2026, a jump from 4.4% in August, according to data released by the Ghana Statistical Service.

While the annual figure climbed, the monthly rate eased to 1.3% from 2.5% in August, indicating a moderation in the pace of price increases.

The mining and quarrying sector was the chief contributor to the year‑on‑year rise, with inflation in that segment climbing to 5.5% from 4.9% in the previous month. Crude oil and natural gas extraction alone saw producer prices surge by 18.3%.

Manufacturing inflation accelerated to 4.6% from 3.6%, with leather products and fabricated metal products recording the steepest price hikes.

In contrast, electricity and gas inflation eased to 9.8% from 12.3%, although it remained the highest among the major economic activities tracked. Services inflation slowed to 1.4% from 1.8%, while construction inflation edged up to 4.7%.

The data suggest renewed cost pressures in parts of the production chain, even as the monthly inflation rate has moderated.

Observers will watch how these sectoral pressures influence overall consumer prices and monetary policy decisions in the coming months.
