Veteran Hiplife artist Reggie Rockstone has publicly responded to former friend and fellow musician Slim Buster’s recent remarks that he had never met with him to discuss music. Rockstone, who has been a key figure in the genre since the 1990s, expressed disappointment that Buster chose a public forum to air the disagreement.
“I don’t know why my name is always attached to drama. Slim, you’re my friend from way back. We are seniors in the game, so we shouldn’t take this route,” the pioneer said, emphasizing that seasoned artists should resolve issues behind closed doors.
Rockstone added that the “OGs don’t beef” and questioned why Buster had not approached him directly. He also rebutted claims that he had done little to support the Ghanaian music industry, reminding Buster that he had pioneered Hiplife, a genre that blends local sounds with hip‑hop.
In response, Buster had argued that he still possessed the looks and appeal to compete with younger artists and accused Rockstone of refusing to collaborate. Rockstone denied ever receiving a collaboration request from Buster and explained that creative chemistry, not just talent, determines whether artists work together.
Rockstone concluded that he would no longer discuss Buster in interviews or public engagements and urged fellow musicians to avoid using public platforms for criticism.
