Prudential Bank Limited announced on 9 October 2026 that it has completed a GH¢1.13 billion strategic capital investment from Bloom Africa Holdings Ghana Limited, following approval by the Bank of Ghana. The injection lifts the indigenous lender well above the regulatory minimum capital requirements and expands its capacity to finance businesses.
Acting Managing Director Ebow Quayson said the capital boost will enable the bank to accelerate its growth strategy and improve service delivery to customers. “This investment significantly strengthens Prudential Bank and enhances our capacity to deliver on the priorities we have set for the Bank. It gives us greater capacity to invest in technology and service delivery, support the growth of our customers and their businesses, accelerate our digital transformation and position the Bank for its next phase of sustainable growth,” he said.
The bank plans to deploy part of the funds to expand lending to small and medium‑sized enterprises and corporate clients, while investing in technology and service delivery to enhance customer experience. The move is expected to strengthen Prudential’s ability to compete in Ghana’s banking sector and support businesses seeking financing to expand their operations.
Board Chairman of Bloom Africa Holdings, Gabriel Edgal, described the investment as part of a broader strategy to build an African financial services platform that connects businesses to capital and opportunities across the continent. “Prudential Bank has a strong legacy in Ghana, built on a deep understanding of its customers, businesses and the market it serves. We want to build on that foundation as part of a truly Pan‑African financial institution that understands local markets and the businesses that drive them, while connecting those businesses to capital and opportunities across the continent,” he said.
Bloom Africa Holdings Ghana Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bloom Africa Holdings Limited, Mauritius, which focuses on facilitating capital flows, trade and investment across Africa. The group already has banking investments in The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Liberia and plans to expand into other West African and strategic markets.
With the completed investment, Prudential Bank now has additional financial capacity to pursue growth opportunities, increase support for businesses and accelerate its digital transformation as it seeks to strengthen its position in Ghana’s banking industry.
