The Adenta‑Abokobi Divisional Police Command is probing a shooting at Ritz Junction that left two people with gunshot wounds. The incident unfolded on Sunday, October 11, after a clash between General Sergeant Mathew Aboase, stationed at Madina Police Station, and drivers from the Ritz Junction Taxi Drivers Union.

Preliminary police reports say the confrontation escalated when the officer allegedly brandished his pistol at the drivers, who then tried to disarm him. The weapon discharged during the struggle, striking two nearby individuals.

The victims, identified as Doe Asinyo and 34‑year‑old Gifty Nyimahen, were rushed to Madina Pentecost Hospital. Asinyo suffered a gunshot wound to his left thigh and was later discharged. Nyimahen sustained an abdominal wound, was admitted, and then referred to Korle‑Bu Teaching Hospital for further care.

Police have arrested General Sergeant Aboase in connection with the incident. He remains in custody while investigators continue their inquiry. The officer’s service pistol has been seized as evidence to help determine what happened.
