Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, known as A-Plus, announced that he will join Effutu MP Alexander Afenyo-Markin to visit families impacted by the recent violence in New Winneba. The visit, scheduled for Saturday, will focus on bereaved relatives and those who sustained injuries during the clashes that left three dead and about 15 wounded on September 1.
Obeng said Afenyo-Markin had proposed the trip as part of broader efforts to engage affected families and work toward restoring lasting peace in the area. He added that the visit would be followed by discussions on a roadmap to address security challenges and prevent further violence.
“After that, we are going to see the roadmap to implement towards bringing lasting peace. So I am all for it,” Obeng added. He stressed that the situation should not be framed simply as a conflict between Effutu and Gomoa residents, but rather as a group of people terrorising others that must be dealt with.
Residents were urged to remain patient while political and security leaders seek a lasting solution. Police have arrested six suspects linked to the violence and are investigating the circumstances, while additional security personnel have been deployed to restore confidence and maintain order.
