July 2026 saw a 23.1% increase in passenger arrivals at Ghana’s international airport and land borders, reaching 137,467, according to the September 2026 Monetary Policy Report. The figure represents a rise from 111,631 arrivals recorded a year earlier.
Compared with June 2026, arrivals grew 15.3%, and cumulative arrivals for the first seven months of the year climbed to 772,250 from 722,020 in 2025.
International trade at the country’s two main harbours also improved. In July, total container traffic—measured by laden containers inbound and outbound—rose 29.0% year‑on‑year to 96,966, up from 75,183 in July 2025. Cumulatively, container traffic for the first seven months of 2026 increased 15.0% to 571,898 from 497,292 in the same period last year.
These gains reflect a broader uptick in Ghana’s transport and trade sectors, signalling stronger economic activity and greater connectivity for the country.
