NPP Walewale Condemns Personal Attacks on MP

The New Patriotic Party in Walewale has issued a sharp rebuke over remarks made by Hakim, known as Oil, during an interview on Mamprugu Online TV. Oil reportedly referred to MP Dr Tia Abdul‑Kabiru Mahama as a "woman" and questioned his achievements compared with his predecessor.

In a statement dated 23 October 2026, signed by constituency secretary Tia Francis, the party described the comments as disrespectful and inconsistent with responsible political discourse. It stressed that while constructive criticism is vital, it must be delivered with decorum and respect.

The statement also reminded members that comparisons between public officeholders should rely on verifiable facts, not personal attacks. It reaffirmed a directive from the party’s General Secretary that prospective parliamentary aspirants cease campaigning, warning that violations would trigger disciplinary sanctions under the party constitution.

“No member is above the party’s rules,” the statement read. The NPP leadership in Walewale called on members to uphold discipline, promote unity and keep personal ambitions in check for the welfare of the constituency.

As the next parliamentary election approaches, the party’s leadership urges members to prioritise respect, discipline and collective interest to strengthen its position in Walewale.
