During the New Patriotic Party’s national delegates congress on Saturday, October 3, confusion erupted at the Ashanti Region TESCON polling area when several delegates could not locate their names on the Electoral Commission’s album. The mix‑up began about five and a half hours into the vote, which had started at roughly 6 p.m.
Delegates who were unable to find their names in the album at the first polling centre they approached were left waiting, raising fears that they might be disenfranchised. Agitation grew among the affected members, prompting police to intervene and restore order. Officers cordoned off the area and guided the delegates back into orderly queues while EC officials worked to resolve the issue.

The National Coordinator of TESCON clarified that the album had not been lost. He explained that the Ashanti Region hosts 50 TESCON institutions, with representatives scheduled to vote at three designated polling centres labelled A, B and C. The confusion stemmed from delegates initially heading to the wrong centre and not finding their names before eventually locating them at the correct one. “There is no issue. The whole TESCON album for the country…the issue was where exactly they were supposed to vote,” he said. He added that the album had been available since morning and that all 50 delegates were captured on the EC’s sub‑album, ensuring they would be able to vote.
Police have since restored calm at the polling area, and voting continues. Meanwhile, other polling centres have finished voting and begun counting ballots.
