Samuel Awuku, the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, told UTV’s Adekye Nsroma programme that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has identified about thirty‑five alleged scandals involving the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). The opposition intends to disclose the material gradually in the run‑up to the 2028 general elections, according to the MP.
Awuku said the number could rise as more issues surface. He added that the NPP’s planned disclosures would give Ghanaians a chance to assess the NDC’s performance against its Reset promises.
The MP cited the controversy over visa arrangements for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, alleging that some NDC regional executives acted as intermediaries through whom government appointees collected money from unsuspecting applicants.
He also challenged Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to publish invoices detailing the cost of evacuating Ghanaians from South Africa. Awuku argued that Ablakwa, while in opposition, had demanded similar transparency regarding presidential travel expenses.
"We are ready to substantiate our allegations with names and voice recordings," Awuku said. "The planned disclosures are part of the opposition’s efforts to scrutinise the government ahead of the 2028 elections."
The MP indicated that the NPP will release the evidence in stages, hoping to keep the electorate informed and to hold the NDC accountable for its promises.
Observers note that the timing of the revelations coincides with the NPP’s push to build a narrative of transparency and accountability as the 2028 election cycle heats up.
