A number of New Patriotic Party (NPP) members seeking national executive positions picked nomination forms when the process opened last Monday.
The nomination process is scheduled to run until August 22, ahead of the national elections slated for October 3, 2026.
Among those who picked forms on the opening day were a former NPP National Chairman, Paul Afoko, and a former General Secretary, John Boadu, both of whom are seeking the National Chairmanship position.
Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, also picked a form to contest the National Organiser position, while a former Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mavis Hawa Koomson, is seeking to become the National Women's Organiser.
Others who picked forms included NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, who is seeking to retain his position. Another party member, Fosu Boadu, picked a form for the National First Vice Chairperson position, while former Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem North, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, picked a form to contest the National Communications Director position. Dr Issahaku Tahiru Moomin picked a form for the National Treasurer position.
The Chairman of the NPP National Elections Committee, Frederick Opare-Ansah, said vetting would take place from August 31 to September 3, with results published on September 5. Appeals would be heard on September 6 and 7, while the National Executive Committee/National Council would meet on September 10. The notice of poll would be issued on September 14, ahead of the elections on October 3.
Opare-Ansah said nomination forms would cost GH¢50,000 for the National Chairperson, GH¢30,000 for Vice Chairpersons, GH¢25,000 for the General Secretary, GH¢10,000 for all other positions, and GH¢8,000 for the special wings, Nasara, Women and Youth.
"Forms may be obtained from the National Elections Committee or National Secretariat at Asylum Down. Payment will be by cash or cheque, after which an official receipt will be issued for collection of the appropriate form. Forms may also be downloaded from the party's website, but the prescribed fee and official receipt remain mandatory before filing," he said.
The Elections Committee comprises Opare-Ansah as Chairman, along with Abena Osei Asare as Vice Chair, Oboshie Sai Coffie, Frank Davies, Anthony Karbo, Salam Ama Mpianimaa Damata, Eric Ntori, the Ashanti Regional Chairman, and Evans Nimako as Secretary.
The Vetting Committee is chaired by Cecilia Abena Dapaah, with Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Salifu Saeed, Barffour Agyei-Bawuah, Elizabeth Ohene, Kwame Osei-Prempeh, Joyce Opoku Boateng, Arnold Boateng and Evans Nimako as Secretary.
The Appeals Committee, chaired by Joe Ghartey, comprises S.K. Boafo, Anthony Namoo, George Mireku Duker, Akbar Yussif Rohullah Khomeni, Gifty Ohene Konadu, Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, Laurette Korkor Asante and Augustine Odei as Secretary. Petitions must be determined within 48 hours, with further appeal to the NEC, whose decision is final.
