The New Patriotic Party (NPP) announced that its National Officers' Elections Vetting Committee has cleared all 47 aspirants who applied to contest the party’s 2026 national officers’ election. The vetting exercise, carried out from August 31 to September 3, 2026, evaluated candidates vying for nine key positions within the party’s national leadership.
In a statement signed by Committee Chairman Frederick Opare-Ansah, the party confirmed that every aspirant who appeared before the committee met the eligibility requirements and was deemed suitable to contest. The highest number of candidates applied for the National Vice‑Chairperson slot, with 13 cleared, followed by eight candidates for the National Organiser role.
Other positions saw the following numbers of cleared aspirants: six for National Youth Organiser, five for National Nasara Organiser, four each for National Chairman, General Secretary and National Treasurer, two for National Women’s Organiser, and a single candidate for National Communications Director.
Following the vetting process, the NPP will hold a balloting exercise on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at its headquarters in Accra. The exercise will determine the order of aspirants on the ballot paper. Candidates are required to attend the exercise in person or nominate authorised representatives to participate on their behalf.
The committee expressed gratitude to the vetting members, the aspirants and the public for their cooperation during the exercise. It also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the remaining stages of the electoral process are conducted transparently and credibly while safeguarding unity within the party.
As the NPP prepares for the September ballot, party members and supporters will be watching closely to see how the cleared aspirants perform in the upcoming vote and who will ultimately secure the party’s national leadership positions.
