NDC Sets ID and Voting Rules for Saturday Constituency Elections

The National Democratic Congress announced new guidelines for its constituency‑level elections on Saturday, October 24, after a press briefing on Thursday. The party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, said all aspirants, delegates and election officials must follow the prescribed procedures.

Under the rules, every delegate must present a valid voter ID card, Ghana Card or the party’s plastic membership identification card for verification before voting. Kwetey warned that no delegate should bypass the validation process or receive preferential treatment and that election officials must enforce the identification requirement consistently.

The guidelines also prohibit tally voting for eight positions, allowing each delegate to cast only one vote per position. Ballots for the women’s and youth conferences are to be kept secure and counted only after the main constituency executive elections conclude.

“We expect all participants to comply fully with them. Ignorance of the rules will not justify attempts to circumvent them and no aspirants or delegates should seek an advantage through practices that compromise the fairness of the process,” Kwetey said.
