NDC Optimistic About 2028 Victory If It Delivers on Promises

Amorse Amos Blessings, Esq., a candidate for the National Democratic Congress’s Greater Accra Regional Secretary slot, told Channel One TV’s Face to Face that the NDC can secure a second term in 2028 if it delivers on its pledges and lifts the living standards of Ghanaians.

Speaking to Umaru Sanda Amadu on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Mr Blessings stressed that while road construction, school buildings and social amenities are important, they alone will not win votes. “If that were the case, the NDC would have won the 2016 election,” he said, recalling the party’s defeat that year despite President John Dramani Mahama’s extensive project rollout.

Mr Blessings highlighted the Adenta‑Dodowa‑Somanya road as a flagship project under President Mahama’s Big Push programme, noting its relaunch after funding changes. He argued that the NDC government has made progress compared with the conditions it inherited, yet admits many challenges remain.

He urged the party to pair infrastructure with policies that directly improve citizens’ welfare. “What Ghanaians are looking for is that beyond the road constructions, and then the building of schools and other things and social amenities, they should also be looking at their welfare. How are they feeling in their country? What is in their pockets?” he asked.

Mr Blessings expressed confidence that by 2028 the NDC will have a strong record to present to voters. “I’m very hopeful that by the time we get to 2028, we will have delivered such that Ghanaians will renew our mandate,” he said.

The party’s prospects, he added, will hinge on whether citizens experience tangible improvements in their daily lives and see more money in their pockets.

As the 2028 general elections approach, the NDC’s focus on welfare‑centric policies could shape its electoral fortunes, according to Mr Blessings, who remains optimistic about the party’s future success.
