After a narrow 1‑0 defeat to Mali’s FC Diarra at the Stade Mamadou Konaté on Saturday, September 5, Nations FC defender Dennis Korsah said the team is confident they can recover in the home leg.
“It’s a good feeling,” Korsah told the club’s media team in Mali. “It’s an opportunity for some of the new guys. It’s kind of okay… and then coming from Ghana all the way here. We are standing in for the nation also as well.” He added that while the result was not what the team hoped for, they would “try and make amends back in Ghana.”
The defender acknowledged the team could have earned a point and that “football happened,” but stressed the importance of correcting mistakes and improving performance at home. He also expressed gratitude to the Ghanaian community and embassy officials in Mali for their support during the match.
Nations FC will host FC Diarra in the second leg on Sunday, September 13. A win by at least two goals will see the Ghanaian side advance to the next preliminary round without a penalty shoot‑out.
With the return fixture looming, Korsah remains upbeat that the team can turn the tie in their favour and bring pride to Nations FC supporters.
