The National Communications Authority (NCA) announced that Scancom Plc (MTN Ghana), Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited (Telecel Ghana) and Goal Telecommunications Ltd have qualified to proceed to the next stage of the 5G spectrum licensing process. All three companies successfully completed the eligibility review and technical qualification assessment for the 700 MHz, 2.3 GHz and 3 GHz bands.
Four applications were received by the 5:00 p.m. deadline on 27 August 2026. Infrava Ltd was the only applicant that did not meet the qualification requirements and will not have its Envelope B opened. The NCA said it has formally notified all applicants of the outcome and provided reasons where applicable.
Under Stage 3 of the selection process, the qualified applicants will open and rank their Best Price Offers. The Authority will separately inform each of the three companies of the date, time and venue for this event.
The licensing exercise aims to allocate spectrum for advanced mobile services, including 5G, across the identified bands.
