Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei denied authoring a memorandum alleging a GH¢70,000 payment and described the document as an attempt to fracture the Minority caucus. She said she had not written, authorised or circulated any such document and called it fabricated.
Speaking on JoyFM’s Top Story on Friday, September 4, Appiagyei said she could not fathom who might have created the memo but suspected anyone could. She added that the memo was designed to undermine caucus unity and create divisions within its leadership.
Appiagyei noted investigations were ongoing to trace the source of the purported memorandum, though she could not identify who produced it. She suggested the document may have been crafted by someone familiar with caucus positions on the matter.
The claims come amid controversy over an alleged GH¢70,000 payment linked to Parliament’s recent vetting of ministerial and Supreme Court nominees by the Appointments Committee. The Office of the Special Prosecutor has begun preliminary investigations into the authenticity of the memorandum and the source and purpose of the alleged funds.
Appiagyei reiterated that the caucus remains united behind its leader and that the memo is a deliberate attempt to sow discord.
