The Federation of Ghana Medical Students’ Associations (FGMSA) and a group of graduating medical and dental students have filed a lawsuit at the Human Rights Division of the High Court of Justice in Accra. The suit seeks an injunction to stop the Medical and Dental Council (MDC) from conducting the Common Registration Examination (CRE) while the court determines the substantive legal issues involved.
In a press statement dated October 20, 2026, FGMSA said the action follows unsuccessful attempts to resolve the concerns through dialogue with the relevant authorities. The federation claims the legal challenge targets the MDC’s implementation of the examination process.
FGMSA reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the interests of medical and dental students, stating it will pursue the legal process to its conclusion. The federation also announced that further updates will be shared through its official channels.
Meanwhile, a separate legal filing has seen Afenyo-Markin file a fresh suit against Sammy Gyamfi and Eric Adjei, though details of that case remain pending.
