Superintendent Kingsley Kawodie, the Airport District Police Commander for the Ashanti Region, said police are probing an alleged child‑stealing incident that was reported on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, in the Manhyia North Constituency.

The commander clarified that while media reports claimed 11 pupils had been kidnapped, the police have not yet confirmed any such abductions. He added that the investigation concerns only two pupils.

Headmaster Francis Koomson of Happy Royal International School in Asokore Mampong Municipality learned of the incident at about 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. He noted the matter had already been reported to police by the time the school became aware of it.

“We don’t have first‑hand information now, but we are relying on the Police for updates,” Koomson said. He urged parents, students and the public to exercise caution, especially when travelling early in the morning, and to remain vigilant for their safety.

The police are continuing their inquiry into the case. Updates are expected as the investigation proceeds.
