L’Oreal disclosed that the growing popularity of GLP‑1 weight‑loss drugs such as Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro is influencing beauty and skin‑care sales. The company said it is developing products to counter the side effects of rapid weight loss, including loose skin around the face.

Head Nicolas Hieronimus told an investor call that the use of GLP‑1s is “a very important phenomenon for us” and that it is “having an impact on beauty consumption and skin‑care consumption in particular.” He added that L’Oreal’s SkinCeuticals and Kiehl’s brands already offer formulations designed to work alongside the effects of GLP‑1 therapy.

In the first quarter to September, L’Oreal’s sales rose 7.7%, beating analyst expectations. The firm also increased its stake in dermatology company Galderma to 20% last December, and both companies are testing products on GLP‑1 users concerned about loose skin in separate clinical trials.

Galderma, which owns aesthetic injectables such as Sculptra and Restylane, released a report last year noting that most weight‑loss medication users reported changes to their facial appearance. L’Oreal’s move into the clinical aesthetic space signals a broader industry shift to address the cosmetic side effects of modern weight‑loss treatments.

As the trend of GLP‑1 drug use continues, beauty brands are likely to expand their portfolios to meet the evolving needs of consumers seeking both weight control and skin firmness.
