Ghana’s 2026 Literacy Challenge is moving into its grand finale, with the top ten regional teams slated to compete in a live quiz on September 5 and 6 at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra. Regional ministers and education stakeholders have publicly backed their representatives, urging them to prepare rigorously for the final showdown.
Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey praised her region’s three qualifiers, saying, “This year, Citi FM is organizing the Literacy Challenge, and three of our very good ones have passed. On behalf of the region, I want to wish them well. I want to assure them that we are solidly behind them.” She added that chiefs and residents were excited about the students’ qualification and hoped they would bring the crown home.
Upper West Regional Minister Charles Luanga Puozuing echoed similar sentiments, addressing the students Sharika, Devine and Manuel. He said, “I want to take this opportunity to wish our three young students who have qualified for the next stage of the Literacy Challenge organised by Citi FM and Channel One, namely Sharika, Devine and Manuel, I want to wish them well, and to say that the entire Upper West is proud of them.” He urged them to view themselves as ambassadors for the region and stay focused in their preparation.
The competition, powered by Channel One TV and Citi FM, is sponsored by Prospectus Ghana Limited, SIC Insurance PLC, Advocate Publishing Limited, Tema Oil Refinery, the Deli Group and La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, all of whom have reaffirmed their commitment as the event enters its final stage.
As the finalists gear up, the spotlight remains on the students’ performance, with regional leaders expressing confidence that their representatives will shine on the national stage.
