In a recent Instagram post, Nollywood star Juliana Olayode defended women who choose marriage, insisting that wanting to become a wife does not make a woman desperate or lacking purpose.
Olayode urged that women should be free to decide the kind of life they want without facing criticism, whether they are happily single or eager to find a husband.
She added that not every woman who wants a husband is desperate, stressing that excitement about marriage does not diminish ambition or personal achievements.
“Wanting to get married is not a personality disorder,” she wrote.
The actress noted that while some marriages end painfully and the institution can be challenging, many still view marriage as a beautiful union and hope to experience it.
Olayode recounted overhearing women at a salon criticize a friend for expressing her desire to marry, to which she offered her opinion and later found humor in the situation after receiving a “BRIDE” swimsuit from a friend in 2024.
She emphasized that people should be free to decide whether marriage is for them, and that the same freedom should be extended to those who wish to get married.
Olayode concluded that women can aspire to faith, purpose, career success, financial stability, friendship, family and marriage, wishing everyone who desires marriage a good partner and a fulfilling union. “Up Love! Up Marriage!” she added.
