Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, the newly appointed Minister for Labour, Employment and Job Creation, declared that job creation will remain central to his mandate during his first meeting with ministry heads and staff.
He called on the ministry to look beyond traditional employment models and explore emerging opportunities to create jobs and boost productivity. “Innovation and skills development will be key to addressing Ghana’s changing employment needs,” he said.
Mr. Agyekum urged the ministry’s managers and employees to research how the country can industrialise and create jobs in various sectors. He acknowledged the experience of his colleagues, especially the younger staff, and asked them to share ideas and case studies from around the world to solve Ghana’s unemployment problem.
“I need your support. I want you to help. I want you to come up with ideas,” the minister added, signalling a collaborative approach to tackling joblessness.
The ministry is expected to roll out new initiatives aimed at fostering innovation, upskilling workers and attracting investment to create sustainable employment opportunities across the country.
