Jinijini‑Sampa Road Work Slows After Gravel Theft in Bono Region

Work on the Jinijini‑Sampa Road Project in Berekum West District, Bono Region, has slowed after thieves stole gravel from several sections of the road, the contractor Rango Construction Limited said on Saturday.

Rango’s Public Relations Officer Felix Agyei told a ceremony at Jinijini that the loss of construction materials is creating challenges for the team and could affect the pace of progress if the situation is not addressed.

The road project is part of the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme, aimed at improving road networks and enhancing connectivity across the country. The project is expected to improve transportation along the corridor, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and support economic activities in the beneficiary communities.

Agyei urged residents in communities along the project corridor to help protect materials intended for the development of the road. He said the availability and proper management of construction materials were essential to ensuring that work proceeded as planned.

The contractor remains optimistic that the project will be completed by the end of 2028, but added that residents’ support is crucial to avoid unnecessary setbacks.
