Nii Okai’s High School Praise programme has moved beyond a simple concert, turning gospel music into a platform for youth development and social care. The initiative brings together students from schools such as Shield International School, Tema International School, Akosombo International School, Life International College, Ghana Christian International High School and Vine Christian High School to collaborate, create confidence and showcase talent.
Last year, the project’s fundraising helped finance the heart surgery of eight‑year‑old Husseina, proving that music can literally save lives. Corporate partners IT Consortium and Sweet Muzic Pro Audio have also stepped in, showing how businesses can support youth and community welfare.
Okai envisions a national festival that would widen participation across Ghana, especially in underserved areas where gifted children lack exposure and mentorship. He urges the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education to explore ways to facilitate broader school involvement, while corporate partners are called upon to move beyond one‑off sponsorships to sustained collaboration.
High School Praise exemplifies how creative talent can be paired with compassion, offering a model that could benefit many more children and families. The next step is building the institutional and corporate backing needed to scale the project and deepen its impact.
