Ghanaian creator Headless YouTuber, who once performed under the name Kula, announced on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz that he will not return to music after years of struggling to break through the industry.
Speaking to hosts Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio, the introverted YouTuber explained that the demands of studio work, hiring dancers, media interviews, video shoots and live performances proved too stressful. "Honestly speaking, music is so stressful," he said. "You need to go to studio, you finish doing the song, you have to pay dancers to dance for you, you go for radio and TV interviews, you shoot music video, you go and perform."
He added that he prefers to create content during the day and spend evenings with family, and that he deliberately avoids working on weekends. "I don’t create content on weekends. It’s intentional. Regardless of how big a story is, if it breaks on weekdays I will not do it. I will rather push it to Monday," he remarked.
Headless YouTuber has been producing popular social media material for five years, after a music career that included tracks such as "Amen", "Interview", "One" and "Meye Yie". In 2019 he won the Ghana Music Awards’ Unsung Project.
He said his decision is final, and he will focus on content creation to support his family and avoid the pressures of the music scene.
