Gunshots were heard in Bunkpurugu on Tuesday afternoon as the Regional Security Council convened an emergency meeting in Nalerigu to assess the rising security threat. The latest volley follows Monday’s attacks that left two people injured after a series of clashes in the community.
Security forces were already deployed to Bunkpurugu earlier on Monday after gunfire was reported in parts of the town. Joint police and military units have since been stationed at strategic points to contain the situation and prevent further escalation.
The council is reportedly considering imposing a full curfew in Bunkpurugu to restore calm and deter additional attacks. Residents have been urged to stay calm and cooperate with security personnel as authorities work to restore peace and stability.
