GTA Ladies Club Launches Mentorship Drive at Aburi Girls Senior High

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) Ladies Club began its first mentorship outreach at Aburi Girls Senior High School, aiming to inspire students to pursue opportunities within the tourism sector and beyond. The event, themed “Tourism Future Leaders Engagement,” gathered GTA Ladies Club members, school management, staff and students for a day of career guidance and mentorship.

During her address, the GTA’s Chief Executive Officer highlighted that the initiative transcended tourism, urging young women to recognize their potential as future leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs and innovators. She described tourism as encompassing culture, heritage, history, creativity, food, fashion, music, hospitality and, most importantly, people. She noted that programmes such as the Black Star Experience are opening doors for young Ghanaians to showcase the country as creators, entrepreneurs, storytellers and ambassadors.

The CEO encouraged students to consider a broad spectrum of tourism careers, from hotel management and travel consultancy to tour operations, culinary arts, event management and tourism marketing. She also stressed that one need not study tourism formally to contribute to the sector, pointing out that doctors, lawyers, accountants, engineers, journalists, filmmakers, teachers and technology specialists all play vital roles. She urged the students to embrace technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially as Ghana prepares to celebrate World Tourism Day 2026 in Koforidua on September 27 under the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to redesign tourism.”

She advised the girls to build excellence as their personal brand, view service as leadership, and value their Ghanaian identity. She further urged them to equip themselves with education, practical skills, good communication, financial literacy, digital competence and integrity as they chase their dreams. The CEO praised the GTA Ladies Club for creating a platform to inspire and mentor young women and encouraged the students to adopt the principle, “Each One, Reach One.”
