The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) finished August 2026 with a robust performance, as the Composite Index climbed 71.90% and the Financial Stock Index rose 70.09%. The gains were supported by a record 133,867 trades, a 323.86% increase over the same period last year.
According to the GSE Monthly Summary, ten companies posted the highest price gains. Dannex Ayrton Starwin PLC led the pack with a 313.6% rise, followed by Digicut Production & Advertising PLC at 211.1%, Hords PLC at 125.6%, Unilever Ghana PLC at 35.6%, Clydestone (Ghana) PLC at 25.9%, and Cocoa Processing Co. PLC at 17.6%. Meridian Marshalls Holding Company, ZEN Petroleum Holdings PLC, TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana PLC, and Ecobank Ghana PLC added to the list with gains of 9.1%, 8.9%, 3.9% and 0.1% respectively.
Conversely, several names slipped. Standard Chartered Bank Gh. PLC fell 0.2%, Fan Milk PLC 0.5%, Scancom PLC 2.4%, Access Bank Ghana PLC 3.0%, Kasapreko PLC 3.0%, Ecobank Transnational Inc. 3.6%, Benso Palm Plantation PLC 4.2%, SIC Insurance Company PLC 4.7%, and Ghana Oil Company PLC 6.4%. GCB Bank PLC dropped 8.4%, Intravenous Infusions PLC 9.5%, Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC 10.2%, Cal Bank PLC 11.4%, Societe Generale Ghana PLC 12.1%, Atlantic Lithium Ltd. 15.2%, and Enterprise Group PLC 33.1%.
In the fixed‑income arena, the Ghana Fixed Income Market closed August with a traded volume of 48.99 billion, up 104.77% from the same period last year. Treasury Bills accounted for 45.98% of the total volume, Government Notes and Bonds 52.77%, and Corporate Bonds 1.25%.
Market participants will watch next month’s earnings releases and policy updates to gauge whether the upward trajectory continues.
