Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) introduced an online verification system on Monday, 19 October 2026, to help individuals and institutions confirm the authenticity of gazettes and reduce the spread of fake copies.
During a press conference in Accra, Managing Director Nana Kwasi Boatey, Esq., explained that the initiative is part of GPCL’s ongoing efforts to tackle the problem of counterfeit gazettes. He noted that previously, verification required contacting or visiting GPCL offices, but the new system allows users to check authenticity online.
Gazettes are official government publications that announce important information such as notices, appointments and other legally required matters. Their authenticity is crucial for institutions and individuals relying on them for official purposes.
Boatey also announced that GPCL will make gazette publications available online, enabling the public to view what has been published and when. He said this would help resolve disputes over publication dates, including those related to elections.
The move is expected to improve access to official information and simplify the verification of documents presented as Ghana Gazettes.
