The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), under the leadership of Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko‑Opoku, has donated medical equipment and consumables valued at more than GH¢4 million to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) to celebrate the hospital’s first anniversary.
The donation package includes a fully equipped Olympus endoscopy tower, jaundice meters and a range of respiratory, oxygen therapy and anaesthesia consumables. These additions are expected to strengthen KATH’s capacity to provide specialised healthcare services.

Chief Executive Officer Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo said the intervention came at a crucial time, noting that the hospital’s existing endoscopy machine had been in use for over a decade. He added that the support would significantly enhance the hospital’s ability to deliver quality care to patients.

GMTF is also backing the construction of a cardiac intervention centre at KATH, the first time in the hospital’s 70‑year history that such a facility is being established. Dr Baidoo remarked, “Your impact within just a year feels like you have been here forever.”
With the new equipment and planned cardiac centre, KATH is set to expand its service offerings and improve patient outcomes in the coming years.
