Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams voiced strong confidence in the Black Princesses as they head to the 2026 FIFA U‑20 Women’s World Cup in Poland. The team, which has qualified for the tournament for the eighth consecutive time since its debut in 2010, has yet to advance beyond the group stage in previous editions. Adams said the team’s consistent qualification “speaks to the enormous potential within women’s football in our country.” He added that each generation must be allowed to write its own story.
In a statement released before the squad’s opening match, Adams praised the players’ record of qualification and encouraged them to seize the opportunity to turn their fortunes around. The Black Princesses will take on Ecuador at 4 pm on Sunday, September 5, before facing South Korea and France in the group.
Adams’ message comes as Ghana prepares to showcase its talent on the global stage, hoping to break the pattern of early exits and leave a lasting impression in the tournament’s history.
