In a joint operation with the National Signals Bureau (NSB), police apprehended 35-year-old Masud Abdullah, an Imam accused of circulating a video in which he advocated violence against anyone speaking ill of Prophet Mohammed. Police reports indicate the statements were made during a sermon at a mosque in Ntensere, located in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
In a separate action, the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team arrested Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei, also known as Apostle Daniel JY Adjei. His arrest follows a video in which he allegedly made offensive and derogatory comments regarding Prophet Mohammed.
Both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, and authorities confirm they will face the full due process of the law.
Following the arrests, the Ghana Police Service reminded the public, particularly religious figures, community leaders, and social media commentators that constitutional rights to speech and religion do not cover incitement to violence. Officials cautioned that encouraging harm against others is a criminal offense, and perpetrators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
