Ghana Positions Itself as Strategic Gateway for Foreign Investors into Africa

Turkish businessman and President of the World Cooperation Industries (WCI) Forum, Utku Bengisu, has highlighted Ghana as a strategic entry point for foreign investors seeking to expand their businesses across Africa. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency conducted in Istanbul, Mr Bengisu described the country as a starting point for investors wishing to understand and explore Africa’s business landscape.

He said Ghana’s democratic credentials, peaceful environment and institutional framework make it an attractive destination for trade and investment on the continent. “Ghana is like an African university. If you want to learn about Africa, you must start by discovering Ghana, because it has a high democracy level above the African continent average,” he said.

Mr Bengisu cited the country’s active business associations and networks across sectors such as construction, agriculture, mining and decoration as key assets that could help foreign investors establish partnerships. According to him, Ghana’s business culture makes it relatively easier for visiting investors to connect with local entrepreneurs and identify potential business partners.

He called for the expansion of industrial and economic zones beyond Accra to unlock investment opportunities in other parts of the country. While commending the Ghana Free Zones Authority for its investment promotion efforts, he said regions with significant agricultural and industrial potential needed greater attention to attract investors and stimulate economic activity.

Ghana’s government has been promoting the country as a stable and business‑friendly environment, and the WCI Forum’s endorsement adds weight to the nation’s bid to become the continent’s launchpad for foreign investment. Investors watching the region will likely note Ghana’s growing infrastructure, skilled workforce and supportive regulatory framework as key drivers of future growth.
