Speaking to the media at a special screening of the film at Silverbird Cinemas on 20 October, Okoro said she was in school and preparing for exams when Frimpong-Manso sent the script her way. Her first instinct was to say no, but the filmmaker would not let it go and insisted she read it before deciding.
That was all it took. Yvonne Okoro said she fell in love with the role as soon as she finished reading and quickly told the director she was in. She described Frimpong-Manso as a bold creative who loves making unconventional movies, a quality she admires, and joked that the producer has a habit of bullying her into projects. In her words, Shirley is crazy, and that is for sure.
The actress also had warm words for her castmates. She said the set was a comfortable space where everyone could laugh and work together without anyone looking down on the other, the kind of atmosphere she always looks for on a film. She has worked with Joselyn Dumas a couple of times before, while George Quaye was a first for her.
Frimpong-Manso is set to premiere “Agency for the Dead” on 30 October 2026 at Silverbird Cinemas in Accra. The film features Dumas, Okoro, Quaye and David Dontoh, among others.
