Emmanuel Bright Quaicoe, a multimedia journalist with Luv FM in Kumasi, was named the 2025 Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Ashanti Regional Journalist of the Year at the GJA Ashanti Media Excellence Awards held this week. The ceremony, themed “Celebrating Excellence, Championing Credibility: Journalism in the Age of AI,” recognised outstanding reporting across the region.
In addition to the top prize, Mr Quaicoe collected Best Feature Production for his piece “Illicit flows bleed Ghana dry: How billions lost are crippling science education and local research,” Best in Agriculture Reporting for “Broken Chain: Delayed rains, poor sales discouraging Ejura maize farmers from planting next season,” and placed second in Best Entertainment Journalism with “Braids of Loyalty: Asantehemaa’s maidens honour her legacy with unique hairstyle.”

The awards highlight Mr Quaicoe’s breadth of work, from in‑depth feature stories to sector‑specific reporting. His performance could position him for national recognition at the upcoming GJA National Awards, depending on the selection process.
The GJA Ashanti Regional Media Excellence Awards celebrate journalists who inform and serve their communities, underscoring the importance of credibility and ethical standards in an era of increasing AI influence on news production.
