Ghana Tourism Authority officials unveiled the official calendar for December 2026 at Labadi Beach Hotel, announcing more than 150 events across the country, with Accra hosting over 100 of them.
Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Abla Dzifa Gomashie opened the launch, urging stakeholders to showcase Ghana’s culture, heritage and hospitality rather than debating the season’s nickname. She highlighted the theme “Ghana to the World,” aiming to promote the nation’s creative industries and hospitality to international audiences.

The festive programme, part of the Black Star Experience, will run from 1 December 2026 to 3 January 2027. Gomashie stressed that success should be measured by visitor numbers, entertainment and the economic opportunities generated for local communities and investment.
She called on tour operators, hoteliers, content creators, musicians, fashion designers, artisans and young entrepreneurs to benefit from the season. The Minister also announced a partnership with the African Union Development Agency (AUDA‑NEPAD) to host the inaugural African Festival of Arts, Culture and Creatives (AFESTACC) from 9 to 12 December, a platform for cultural exchange and creative‑economy investment.
GTA Chief Executive Officer Maame Efua Houadjeto highlighted the importance of promoting tourism across all 16 regions and urged event organisers to give Ghanaian performers prominent roles, fair compensation and opportunities to reach international audiences. She also encouraged businesses to work closely with local suppliers to support livelihoods.

Visitors are encouraged to explore attractions beyond Accra and to experience Ghana through music, festivals, heritage sites, cuisine, fashion and community celebrations.
As the country prepares for a festive season that blends cultural celebration with economic growth, the GTA will monitor the impact of the events on tourism and local communities.
